It's a funny thing that happens when you devote a large section of your garden to zucchini growing. The plants take no effort to care for or grow, whatsoever, and yield more fruit/vegetable (it's a great debate that is not the point here) than you know how to use up (read: there are only so many ways you can hide zucchini from a suspicious family expecting it to show up in some new form in every dish you serve) & (read: and there are only so many polite neighbours willing to accept your "donations").
What's even more curious is to plant a huge patch of sweet corn, carefully tending and weeding and eagerly watching the stalks grow taller with great anticipation as the cobs are increasing in size and maturity at a rate that makes your mouth water, only to go harvest some for a meal one day to find that you are not the only one who seems to enjoy sweet corn. In fact there are others out there that like it more than you, who haven't been as patient in waiting to harvest it. In fact they aren't even welcome to harvest it, or steal it, or ruin it, or eat it on you... but these are all things that cannot be taught, as RACCOONS are not good students.
The way I see things, the world would be a better place if raccoons were eating my unwanted & extra zucchinis instead of my long anticipated & much desired sweet corn.
